Pub landlord, doodler, scribbler in biro, gouache and acrylic. One time garden designer and writer.

Every subject presents new challenges and pushes me to try new techniques and different methods and media. Many years of experimentation (and yes, lots of failures / lessons learnt) have distilled into my favourite media being gouache, watercolour, pen and crayon with the occasional oil and acrylic.

Birds

Birds have been a lifetime passion from childhood - I still have “The Popular Handbook of British Birds” by P.A.D. Hollom, given to me on my ninth birthday. I fell in love with the illustrations and been trying to emulate them ever since.

Portraits

Be it animal, human or house, portraits are a constant challenge. I think I do them just to see how close a likeness I can achieve!

Landscapes

Living in Dorset I have no excuse to not do landscapes. My favourite county…apart from Yorkshire, where I was born!
