Doodler and scribbler, mainly in biro, gouache and acrylic. One time garden designer and writer.
My studio is in my pub, The Red Lion, in the historic town of Beaminster giving me some far reaching views over the rooftops to the Dorset countryside.
Every subject presents new challenges and pushes me to try new techniques and different methods and media. Many years of experimentation (and yes, lots of failures / lessons learnt) have distilled into my favourite media being gouache, watercolour, pen and crayon with the occasional oil and acrylic.
Favourite subject will always be birds, followed by portraits and landscape.
You won’t be surprised to hear birdwatching is among my hobbies as well as cycling the lanes and bridleways of Dorset giving me inspiration for the landscapes I paint.
I was a garden designer who specialized in designs with coloured foliage for year round interest. I wrote a book Foliage – ISBN-13 978-1780193632. I think it is still available.
I illustrated a book – “Underdog’s Quest” by Scott Price. Available to purchase.
My other passion is Tilda, my rescue dog!
